Mnt. Charleston

You can escape the Las Vegas heat by traveling just 35 miles to Mt. Charleston where the summer temperature is about 30 degrees cooler. Named by a military expedition that was based in Charleston South Carolina, Charleston Peak (11,918 feet) can be easily seen from the strip.
