Photos of the "Maroon Bells" in Aspen, CO are popular in calendars and publications that promote Colorado tourism. Photographers flock to this particular location to photograph the mountain's reflection in a small lake. The reflection appears at sunrise and lasts only about an hour. I arrived at Maroon Bells at 6:00 am, set my camera and tripod, and while waiting for the sun to rise, the clouds moved in and obscured the reflection. Disappointed, I packed my gear and started to hike out of the area, when I notice that the clouds would occasionally part and allow a brief ray of sunlight to fall on the mountains. I managed to capture one of these brief moments in this photo.
